Aloe arborescens is also known as 'the torch aloe'  

Native to Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa, it bears dense rosettes of succulent, toothed, sword-shaped leaves, from which tall,torch-like red flowers appear in summer.


Aloe arborescens grows best in a free-draining cactus compost.

Water sparingly and stop watering altogether September-March.


Best suited to growing as a houseplant in the conservatory or greenhouse, but it can be moved to a sheltered, sunny patio in summer.


Supplied in a 12cm nursery pot.
