A seedball is a mini ecosystem, protecting the seeds from birds, ants and slugs and giving them nutrition as they germinate and grow. Peat-free compost provides nutrition, while chilli powder deters slugs and snails from nibbling the seedlings. Seedballs are encased in an outer layer of clay which protects the seeds from predators. Each tin covers 1 metre square in a garden bed or 3-5 medium sized pots (leave at least 10cm between each ball).

Artist's Meadow

Seedball are delighted to launch this new mix with their favourite contemporary artist Yvonne Coomber. Inspired by the wildflowers growing outside of her studio in Devon, Yvonne has painted a canvas for Seedball called ‘Here Is Where All The Wildflowers Grow’. They’ve taken a section of this painting to create this totally gorgeous design for the Artist’s Meadow Tin, with the seed mix being of those flowers from the painting.

The proceeds from the sale of every tin go to the Wildlife Trusts – a totally inspiring conservation charity working to save our wild places while bringing people closer to nature.

Each ball contains approximately 30 seeds per ball from a mix of Common Poppy, Oxeye Daisy, Musk Mallow, Corn Marigold, Purple Field Scabious, Red Campion and White Cow Parsley.

Bee Mix

This carefully selected mix is designed specifically to attract solitary bees, honey bees and bumblebees.

Each seed ball contains approximately 30 seeds from a mix of Birdsfoot Trefoil, Foxglove, Red Clover, Viper’s Bugloss and Wild Marjoram – all recommended as bee-friendly plants by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Bird Mix

In collaboration with scientists at the Natural History Museum, this mix includes wildflowers that are perfect for attracting birds to our gardens to feed on seeds and insects.

According to the RSPB, a lack of habitat and food abundance has lead to huge decline (over 50% in the last 45 years) of many common UK garden bird species.

Our Bird Mix is designed to feed the birds for you, and is a much more sustainable option to buying bagged bird feed!

The careful selection of plants will boost the food supply for a wide range of birds including goldfinches, blue tits, chaffinches, greenfinches, robins, starlings, increasing the number of birds seen in your garden. Whilst in bloom the flowers will attract insects that many birds feed on, while birds will also feed directly on the plants and seeds themselves.

Each ball contains approximately 30 seeds

Butterfly Mix

A mix of native wildflowers that are perfect for butterflies!

This lovely collection of mostly purple, pink and blue flowers is designed to attract butterflies to our gardens, balconies and window boxes and uses only flowers recommended by Butterfly Conservation.

Each seed ball contains approximately 30 seeds from a mix of Purple Loosestrife, Forget-me-not, Musk mallow, Red campion and Yarrow, plus a sprinkling of pollinator-friendly annuals Chamomile, Cornflower, Corn marigold, and Night-flowering catchfly.

Cornflower

Brilliantly blue British cornflowers. These iconic and distinctive flowers are fantastic for bees, beetles, butterflies and moths, and are a simply marvellous addition to any wildlife garden. They are also edible with a cucumber-like taste, and can be used in salads, as a garnish or infused as a tea!

Each ball contains on average 8 seeds, and each tin will provide coverage for 1 square metre in a garden, or 3-5 medium sized pots.

Hedgehog Mix

The UK’s hedgehog population is struggling, with numbers down by 50% since the turn of the century. A wildflower patch is a super addition to creating a hedgehog friendly garden, not only in providing shelter but importantly to attract a whole range of tasty insects for hedgehogs to feed on.

Proceeds from the sale of every tin go directly to supporting PTES in their conservation work. Each tin contains 20 seed balls, enough to cover 1 metre square in a garden bed or 3-5 medium sized pots (leave at least 10cm between each ball). Best scattered in Spring or Autumn.

Each seed ball contains approximately 30 seeds from a mix of Yellow Rattle, Wild Carrot, Birdsfoot Trefoil, Tufted Vetch, Self Heal and Poppy.

Oxeye Daisy

Simply Oxeye Daisy seeds, so beautiful! One of the quickest growing wildflowers, whose open flower heads attract bees, butterflies and hoverflies. One of the the most resilient wildflowers, they are often seen on road verges and in spots with more limited sunshine, and are included in our Urban Meadow Mix, Plantlife Mix and Shade Mix.

Each ball contains about 30 seeds, and each tin will provide coverage for 1 square metre in a garden, or 3-5 medium sized pots. Best scattered in Spring or Autumn, but can be sown all through the summer too.

Plantlife

The ideal mix for garden flower beds! Curated by wildflower conservation organisation Plantlife, this mix includes five native wildflowers that are most likely to thrive in the nutrient rich soils commonly found in our gardens.

Proceeds from the sale of every tin go directly to supporting Plantlife’s new nature reserve – Greena Moor in Cornwall.

Each ball contains approximately 30 seeds from a mixture of Bellflower, Forget-me-not, Meadow buttercup, Meadowsweet, Oxeye daisy, Ragged robin and Red campion.
