Ficus Elastica also goes by the name Rubber Plant. Plant parents descend from Southeast Asia— specifically, Himalayas, Malaysia, Indonesia. Ficus elastica 'Tineke' has unusual markings and colouration, with shades of pale green, cream and pink.
 
A great ornamental and low maintenance houseplant. Also known for its air purifying qualities. This plant does best in bright but indirect sunlight.
 
Water once the soil begins to dry. Keep the soil moist but be careful not to overwater. Plant in a pot with a drainage hole and added drainage in the compost would be beneficial. It doesn't like cold draughts. This plant would enjoy the occasional misting. 
 
Centuries ago, the rubber tree was (perhaps unsurprisingly) utilised to make rubber products . The plant produces a milky, latex substance which was the key ingredient of the rubber. This substance is excreted by the plant when a leaf or stem breaks and it is considered mildly toxic. Avoid getting it on your skin, in the eyes, or ingesting as it is an irritant.
