About Nasturtium Gleam Fields
The genus Tropaeolum, which is commonly referred to as nasturtium, consists of approximately 80 species of flowering plants that are either annual or perennial and herbaceous. This genus was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his book "Species Plantarum" and is the solitary genus in the Tropaeolaceae family.
In The Records
In 1684, the first Nasturtium seeds were brought to Europe from Peru by Dutch monk Pater Beverning. The plant was initially cultivated in the botanical garden of the University of Leiden. Within the next twenty years, the practice of growing Nasturtium spread across Europe, with records of its cultivation appearing in England (1688), Germany (1690), and France (1700).
