  • Sowing:
    Sow seeds outdoors from March to June in drills around 3–5cm deep. For an earlier start, seeds can be sown in gutters or modules and transplanted.

    Germination:
    Typically takes 7–14 days. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged.

    Spacing:
    Sow seeds around 5cm apart in rows spaced 30–45cm apart.

    Support:
    Provide support such as netting or twine for plants to climb as they grow.

    Position:
    Prefers a sunny, open position.

    Soil:
    Grow in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter.

    Care:
    Water regularly, especially during flowering and pod formation.

    Harvesting

    Harvest from June to August, picking pods regularly to encourage continued production. Best eaten fresh for maximum sweetness.

    The more you pick, the more they produce - regular harvesting keeps plants cropping for longer.
