A charming perennial violet with beautifully scented, deep violet-purple flowers that brings old-fashioned cottage garden character to borders, pots and shady corners.
 
Violet ‘King Henry’ (Viola odorata) produces delicate blooms above low-growing, heart-shaped foliage, creating a pretty carpet of colour. Its wonderfully fragrant flowers are a welcome sight in early spring and are particularly lovely planted along pathways, beneath trees or towards the front of borders where their scent can be enjoyed.
 
Once established, these hardy little plants will return year after year and are happiest in a partially shaded spot with moist but well-drained soil.
